If the puppy's mother is present, you do not need to feed the puppy anything, except to have water available. Eventually, the mother will show the pup how to eat dog food. If the mother is gone, your veterinarian can recommend a formula for puppies that would better meet the nutritional needs than milk from cows.
a puppy need least 1 onc. of milk every 4 hours.
NO MILK! If a puppy that young isn't being fed by its mother for any reason, the vet can prescribe a special formula for bottle feeding.
The mother should be feeding him/her, if you are feeding instead of dog mom use milk from your vet not "people" milk.Always call your vet before feeding a puppy milk.
Probably 2 times a day about a cup each time no more.At 3 months their are still young and need calcium.
If there just a week old offer it every 2 hours if older offer milk as needed.
2 to 3 pints.
I am not sure exactly how it affects the puppy's digestive system, but it is not recommended. It may even make the puppy sicken or die. Go with powdered milk. If regular milk is all you have, I suggest that do not give it much, and warm it up a bit.
You can go down to your local pet store or wal-mart and in the dog section they do have a formula made ecpecilly for puppy's. If I were you I would go down to your pet store and ask on of the staff to assist you In finding the right kind.
I really dont think you should give a puppy milk. They drink out of moms milk. I am not really sure. It depends how old the puppy is. If the puppy is like a couple months old probably water would be best probably. well, i am having 2 puppies and i will like to tell you that .... if he is more than 4 months old you can feed him with cow milk.. as i did <according to vet> if the puppy is more small feed them with cerelac <given to human babies>!!!! you are suppose to give the goats milk, cows milk is hard on their stomachs
It is not reccomended to give any dog milk, other than dog milk from its mother. There is too much calcium in it, which can lead to bladder stones or crystals which can be very painful, and possibly have to be surgically removed.
a four week old pup should still be drinking mumma's milk, ready soon for weaning...
Please DO NOT give a puppy human medication. It can harm the puppy.
Is should be so long as they dont choke. To much might give them the runs though so be careful.
Yes actually Goat Milk is a very good formula to use on a puppy, I have a preemie Boston terrier puppy that had problems with other formulas and had ( under the advice of my vet) to be place on goat milk, now he is doing much better, and his bowels have straightened out.
Before buying a dog or a puppy you should always ask the person who sold you the puppy, what the eat and the instructions to feeding them . Like how much to give them and what sort of food. From HorseLover01
First of all feed her puppy food to help with making more milk and she should be eating double what she usually eats.
You should never give your puppy milk after it is weaned. It can cause gas, and we all know what that can smell like. It can also cause diarrhea. Humans are the only mammal that consumes milk after the "weaning" period of life. And then we don't drink human milk, we drink the milk of a cow.
