Children were miserable and did not have a life. They swept chimneys and worked in factories. They didn't get paid and even if they did, children did not get paid very much. Children worked as hard as adults (at least they tried to) and they got nothing!!! The Victorian era was hard for children.Children were miserable and did not have a life. Children werenever happy then and they only earned very small amounts of money. Half a penny was what they earned. If they had poor parents that money had to do. Children labour was held in factories, chimney sweep, rat catching and all sorts of other things. You wouldn't do that to your kids would you?
Employers paid children less than they paid adults
Cheap labour ! They paid children very little wages - if at all!
They could be paid lower wages(OW)
you get paid £2.00 and im not doing it for the money im doing for the children
They could be paid less than adults were paid. They were more likely to do what they were told. They could fit into small spaces in mines and factories.
It depends on who the money was paid to and how much money was paid.
Because it was the age of the industrial revolution where factories and machinery operated by workers were being created. This was the start of the factories and the production cycle of commodities and goods.
