I think that would depend on what country/city you are looking at specifically, but according to this website, http://www.post-gazette.com/tv/20031231colortv1231p3.asp, the first coast-to-coast TV broadcast in the United States was in January of 1954. That same year the Westinghouse offered the colour TV's costing $1,295, however RCA Labratories developed the colour TV between 1946-1950 that became a national standard in 1953. I'm not sure how much they went for, but considering the first nationally broadcast colour program was in 1954 I would say that the price of the TV's then would be more pertinent than that of earlier models.
The first television set was sold by General Electric and went for about $85. That seems like a small amount in 2013, but at the time that was considered a lot of money.

Give up TV. There's altogether too much food on it. Why do you think food companies pay so much money to tell you to "eateateat" every day? The answer is: Because it works. Go for a walk instead. The colours are more realistic outside. you can watch as many TVs as you want..
