It depends on the company and where you live. A technical support representative is usually in a call center and can be referred to as Tier 1. The lowest paying job I've seen for this was $9 an hr and the highest was around $14 an hr. I was on Tier 2 on a Microsoft contract a few years ago and found out our Tier 1 were getting $16, which is the highest I've seen.

A small company won't be able to pay as much because they don't have the income of a bigger company, but just because a company is big doesn't mean they will pay higher wages either.

It also depends on your experience. If a person is going into a Tier 1 call center type job with limited experience, I would say less than 2 years, I would expect the pay to be $9 or $10/hr. Again, it depends on where you live. A higher cost of living will usually have jobs that pay more. If you get offered more, then of course take it, but experience definitely affects pay.

There is also Tier 2 and 3, but they are not considered a technical support representative, and don't answer anywhere near the amount of calls because they have much more experience, and the pay is almost always higher.

Depends on the level of tech support they are doing. Low level tech support is about $10 per hour, top level tech support may make double that.

(At least those were the rates when I did it, but that was a few years ago now... )
