== == Depending on several factors, like where you work ( what state ) and how much experience you have, and if you are a union member, or not. The rate can be from $22 to $50 an hour, BUT you will need to spend at least 5 to 7 years to get that much training and field experience behind you.

usually, its early in the mornin, like wakin up and needin to get to the job site around 6 in the mornin to prepare. and sometimes, if they need you to, and if you want to, you'll work up to 16 hours. but usually, you could take your 8 hour per day shift, but overtime is always available...at least in Chicago. and when you're certified and already making 40 bucks an hour, you're making 60 bucks an hour everything past 8 hours until 12. after 12, its double time. so basically, its anywhere from 40 to as high as you wanna go.

My friend is an IBEW electrician and his wages are over $35 an hour. Also a few years ago they were putting $7.00 an hour into his retirement. I'm sure all of these have increased with time.

That is just for him. Whatever shop he works for is going to want to earn money too.

Currently he has been unemployed for over 12 month but he draws around $500 a week from unemployment. So even when he doesn't work, taxpayers in general still pay him through taxes that fund unemployment.

Its a pretty good deal if you can get it.

Depends on where you live. In California (depending on experience) it can be in ranges of 12-28 dollars and hour. However to start as a electrician here you will have to take a state exam to get certified as a journeyman, and if your looking to start in the trade you will need to find a state approved school to do a apprenticeship. Higher wages can be made if your a foreman or general foreman, but those poistions usually require a great deal of experience.
