I believe that we run pretty close to the usa in most things. What ever they do or have, we are usually 10%. Except, our debt appears to be 600 billion and the USA is 16 trillion. so we appear to be 1/27 th of their debt. I find research to be very evasive concerning our debt to china. So, I wonder, "Why is it that Harper is trying to push things through parliament in regards to foreigners buying up our companies and resources? I fear that he is attempting to pay down our debt by allowing countries to whom we are indebted, in through the side door to once again bend us over the proverbial barrel. I have no respect for any person hides on the shady side of truth. Truth is always the best policy, then deal with it. So now Harper lets these companies in with the right to import their workers and whatever else they choose. If we moan or get a little mad, they have the right to sue us. I say, as I have always said. Let's educate our own, develop our own, manufacture our own and export on our own. Only import that which we cannot find from within our borders. Minimize our carbon footprint. Share with the world a better way and help by training and showing those who cannot help themselves. Get rid of the pensioned off bureaucrats and others who really do not contribute in a meaningful way. Make politicians pay out of their wallet for bad decisions they make, which the public has to pay and they get pensioned for. Start making criminals pay for their crimes. Get rid of some of the tax loopholes which allow people to borrow funds from their place of worship so that propery tax payment is avoided because the church owns their property. Some times I think that we are just a stupid bunch of people to let this go on. ( signed...... One Frustrated Canadian )

Somewhere in between 80-90 billion dollars(not trillion)
$80-$90 billion dollars.
?US owes china a lot of money...about 3 trillion dollars (2009)
I think they owe money to pretty much every country in the world (sorry if this doesn't help). Heck, they probably owe money to you with the gov'ts debt in the trillions
No
None. The US owes other countries, like China, money that they have loaned to us.
Most people do not personally owe money to China. However, the United States of America owes billions of dollars to China. It is not likely that individuals will be required to contribute their portion, however.
Because the US spends far more each year than it takes in. That is called the deficit. Every year that we have a deficit, we need to borrow money to make up the difference. That is called the debt. Much of that loaned money comes from China, or the debt was assigned to China by whoever the US borrowed from. Since we're living on borrowed money, we have to owe someone. China is one of those someones.
We would owe nothing if if we never signed free-trade with the Americans and if we taxed corporations, illiminated tax breaks on advertising we would be able to buy the USA like China is doing.
As of July 2014, the estimated amount of money owed to China from the United States is 17 trillion dollars. The US owes China more than any other country.
