if you wanted to go to a store that is a 5 min ride on car, you would use the car you wouldn't waste your money to go on public transport for such small distance

I dont think the number would change, because those who take public transport usually do not have money to buy cars, not that they want to help the environment.

in public transport many people can travel using small money whereas if every one travel in self car then it is more expensive due to separate patrol consumption for each passenger.
