There are people that are for space exploration because there might be life on other planets somewhere. Other people are against it because they feel the money can be spent somewhere else.
During the race to the moon, the government spent massive amounts on space exploration. Today, it is no longer a government priority, so funding for space exploration has decreased. Yet, NASA continues to work on new projects. Currently, however, space exploration is moving further toward the private sector. Companies like Space-X will soon dominate space exploration, and companies that make money expand rapidly.
One disadvantage of searching for space exploration is its cost. Another disadvantage is the time spent to research and explore.
The budget has been drastically reduced. The US people and government believe that the money could be better spent elsewhere.

FALSE. NO. Wrong! You Fail!!

A bit more than the USA spends on its military budget, space exploration, health issues and so on.

This question is a question of opinion. But i think that the Money spent on space travel should be diverted to medical research.
Mainly because it costs a lot of money. NASA only has a limited budget, and money spent on moon exploration is money that can't be spent on other stuff, like the International Space Station and Mars exploration. A second reason is that it's dangerous. Apollo 13's crew nearly all died, and there's no guarantee that if we sent more humans there they wouldn't have their lives put at risk. It's likely that most moon exploration in the near future will be done by robots.
You gain . . . - The experience of seeing your country surpassed by other countries - Declining national self-esteem - Declining enrollment in math and science, as they fall out of fashion - Comfortable ignorance You do NOT gain more money "to focus on problems right here on Earth". Money spent on space exploration is not loaded into barrels and launched into space. It is paid to the scientists, engineers, technicians, astronauts, truck drivers, janitors, doctors, trainers, and workers in industries, who develop, build, equip, and operate the space exploration program. Those people take that money and use it to buy homes, groceries, clothes, cars, magazines, gas grills, lottery tickets, bus fare, and school for their kids ... exactly what we all do with the money we earn on OUR jobs. And when there is a space exploration program, there are more jobs. It's that simple.
