Mexico told the US, that California was not for sale. So the US declared war on Mexico for the land. It was never bought. U.S. took it by force because they knew Mexico had no Army. U.S. won the war in 1847. taking the land from the Mexicans and Indians by force. This is why theirs so many living in California. Trump doesn't understand in true life this land was never bought or sold to the U.S. this is really their land.
