around about 15 to 17 horsepower
I have a 1999 with the 3800 engine. The owner's manual says the horsepower is 205 without the supercharger and 240 with the supercharger.
A supercharger or blower is an air compressor that is designed to blow more air into an engine. By forcing more air into the engine, you will see an increase in horse power and torque. Here is a link that I personally think will give you a better understanding of what a supercharger is. http://www.superchargersonline.com/content.asp?ID=31
Intake/exhaust/programmer can give you-10hp-20hp. Anymore you need a cam /intake and or supercharger/turbo/nitrous.
No. There are two types of charger to give the engine more air than it would be able to suck in naturally; a Supercharger and a Turbocharger. The supercharger is an electrically (usually) driven fan that compresses the air. A turbocharger does the same job, but it is driven by the flow of exhaust gases through a small turbine. Thus the turbocharger has a small lag time, for it depends upon engine speed for its performance. Whereas a supercharger is independent of the engine operation. Of course, many motors manage quite well without either accessory.
That depends on how you've set the fuel/air mixture to accomidate the supercharger. You will never increase an engines' horsepower by just giving it more air. You need to give it more fuel and in doing so, the emissions go up. If you add a supercharger and leave the fuel settings at factory set, you may or may not have a cleaner burning engine. It depends on engine wear for one. In an ideal world, you would get a more complete burn of the fuel with more air but lack the extra horsepower a supercharger provides.
I would think at least 75.
About 80 HP over stock.
Roots or screw supercharger... spooling Abosultely YES. centrifugal like paxton, vortech, procharger, rotex it "spooling" depends... A supercharger is directly driven from the engine, and therefore delivers boost all the way through the rev range(roots or screw supercharger), improving bottom-end response, Centrifugal can give more boost in first gear than a turbo in first gear from a stop) at the expense of losing a few horsepower because of the load on the engine of the supercharger. A turbocharger uses exhaust gasses to spin up a turbine, which then drives an impeller, to compress incoming air, thus increasing horsepower. However, turbochargers are not very responsive at low RPMs, "taking sometime" to 'spin up', (really depends on the size of the turbo/turboes) this delay in speed, causes so-called 'turbo lag', where there is a delay getting the boost from the time you floor it, until u get boost. So, a supercharger may make a car 'quicker' from an idle start, because of its continuous boost(roots/screw supercharger), a turbocharger is better when it 'catches up' because it doesn't rob as much horsepower from the engine.
Add a free flow exhaust and a cold air intake free flow air filter. This will give you slightly more h.p. To get some real horsepower you can install a turbo charger or supercharger but they are expensive.
Yes it will I had a tensioner pulley give out on mine that had to be replaced due to having an incorrect belt, and incorrect routing. I ran for over a week while I waited for the proper belt, and replacement pulley to get to me. The Supercharger does indeed make a difference in power, but if you have to run without it you'll be ok. I wouldn't bypass the supercharger on purpose because it may even decrease your gas mileage, but again the car will run without it if need be. 11/11/07 -After 10 years of ownership, and 30 minutes of running my GTP without the supercharger belt, I believe it will continue to run successfully at a greater level naturally aspirated. I will report the results as they come...
Hm...You cannot convert cc in HP,never-ever. In one engine,179 ccm will give one output,in other it will give another.HP output depends on many things, such as rpm, fuel type, whether it's naturally aspirated engine or it has forced induction system (supercharger),whether it has 2 or 4 valves per piston etc, etc. You should read that in specification on net,or find it (it should come with engine)
