A small percent of the crimes that police know about result in an arrest. I heard a number of convicts laugh about all the crimes they committed and got away with. Even though the crimes are considered unsolved, the perpetuators are in prison. I pointed out that all of them were doing life. They had been in prison for years and would be for years to come until they died. They did not see the connection. I just shook my head at such stupidity. Yes there are a lot of unsolved crimes. Still, a lot of the people who committed them are where they belong and doing life. It is hard to get through to hard core criminals. I was glad when the governor fired me and I had to find a new line of work!
