That depends upon which earthquake you are talking about. Aside from the fact that California has an earthquake occur somewhere within it's 163,000 square miles several times every minute but only a few are every felt.
In 1989, there was an earthquake in the central coast region of California called the Loma Prieta earthquake. It measured a 6.9 on the Richter scale and lasted for 15 seconds. This was the largest quake to occur in California since the 1906 earthquake that rocked San Francisco and surrounding areas.
In the 1906 quake, the deathtoll was about 1,200 people for a quake which is believed to have measure 6.5 and lasted nearly one minute. In 1989, there were 69 deaths directly resulting from the Loma Prieta quake.
According to the 2003 Almanac, only 1 person died
450 people
ommm 100s
300,000 people did die in the antioch eatrhquake
131 people died ,122 from tidal wave
The overall cost of the damage from the 1906 San Francisco earthquake was estimated at the time to be around $400,000,000.
i cant tell you how many survive but i cant tell how much died estimated 200,000.
Many people died in the Haiti earthquake in fact 100,000 that's how much can you believe that!
The S F earthquake of 1906 totally devastated parts of the city. There have been several since, but the next big one is still awaited.
the earthquake began and sent wind and debris everywhere, when the wind and debris was mixed with wood and winds hard enough to create fire. the fire was large and it mixed with the earthquake, created one of the biggest natural disasters in our countries history. that's all :) @rose@
It depends how many times an earthquake occurs and how much damage happens and how strong it is.....
it all dipends how bad it is
In Japan there are huge earthquake zone.
to cheat on a test: you have to look over on the smart kids paper when the eater is not looking. you will get at least a B+ if you did not study Thanks!
The biggest earthquake ever recorded, which occurred near the cities of Valdivia and Puerto Montt, Chile, in 1960. Known as the Great Chilean Earthquake, the quake measured an impressive 9.5 on the Richter scale. The death toll of the Great Chilean Earthquake is not known, although the USGS estimates about 1,655 people died, and the earthquake may have caused as much as $800 billion US Dollars in damage.
