I'm sure somewhere out there, there may be an exact measurement for this. I wouldn't have a clue what it is. I will tell you this....if you have the engine tore down enough to see it has slack, and you have any concerns at all, then go ahead and change it. Depending on whether you go with a stock style chain or an good aftermarket will determine the cost. You certainly don't want to have it go out in the middle of no where. Or punch a valve through a piston.
The Pontiac Grand Prix has a Timing Chain with a spring loaded tensioner. The tensioner is know to wear, crack and then break. The timing chain and tensioner should be replaced at 100,000 miles. This is a pretty big job that can be done with the motor in the car. $$$ Ray
The 2UZ-FE motor does not have a timing chain but a timing belt and it should be changed between 90k and 100k miles along with the water pump.
it has a timing chain
timing CHAIN
The 1998 Ford 5.4 Triton motor has a timing chain on it. The timing chain kits cost around $70 each.
Has timing chain slap, thats why I asked the question above! Thanks
The 3.3 has a timing chain
timing chain. the timing chain is ment to last as long as the motor does . does not require replacement unless it breaks and if it does i hope its not a interfearence motor
There is not a service interval for the chain. It should last for the life of the motor. There is not a service interval for the chain. It should last for the life of the motor.
Every motor I know of has the timing chain in front directly under the water pump. The timing chain goes from the crankshaft to the cam or cams.
The Chrysler/Dodge 2.7L is a timing chain motor.
The 2.2 ecotec motor has a timing chain with oil pressure tensioner and chain guides.
