Best Answer - Chosen by Voterswell if you are mixing by volume it is 1:2:4 and it can be 1 of anything a bucket or pail or whatever as long as you use the same measure for all 3...5 gallon buckets or shovelsfull are the norm...so 1 bucket cement , 2 sand and 4 gravel for sidewalks or floors... you can vary the strength by changing up your mix...you can go 1:3:6 for footers...you can go 1:2 1/2 :5 for a mix somewhere in between...if you dont want to add a lot of water use a plastisizer...but you still only have so long to work it...
