About 400lbs.
Yes.
A 400 small block can run from 350hp to 400hp just depends what your running with it.
On my 80's Chevy pick-ups they are under the distributor on the back of the block near the firewall.
No they stoped making the 400 SB in 1981
The 1970 Chevy has a 400 cu in SB casting 2951511 Canadian Block. To find parts for older vehicles, you can visit local junk yards or order from companies that specialize in hard to find parts.
165HP @ 3800 RPM
yes, but the main journals will need to be turned down to fit the 350 saddles
Most SB's from the late 1950's thru the mid 80's only had one location, on top of the block, right behind the intake manifold.
The good book sayeth....sb ChevyMy Manual for '67-'87 Chevy Trucks lists the Torque Specs on the small block Chevy v-8 at 30 Ft-lbs for the Water Pump... Peace...
No. Ford and Chevy are different. Some installation tools come with enough parts to do both, but a Chevy one won't work on a Ford.
I own a 93 Chevy Silverado K1500 4x4 with V8 350 TBI 5.7L. so unless Chevy has changed their blocks, i would suggest that naturally your block is a SB 350. However, since your question was about horsepower, not which block you have, I will tell you the horsepower. The 1998 Vortec 5.7 liter makes 255 horsepower.
There was one on Pinks, a couple of seasons ago, so yes. But it doesn't fit very nicely. The Ford SB is much more popular for this conversion since everything clears properly. The Corvette LS-1 fits OK because it doesn't have the rear-mounted distributor.
