If Dennis lives with (biological)drugparents that teach him their love provided for him is the same as candy, food and drugs, every time he askes for just some love and attention, Dennis wil need loads of food and weight to build and loose and build to feel good, to grow, and to develop his brain and psychic. If loads of people will degrade him by telling him he is unhealthy he wil start to build another lack of selfasteam. So he wil need more food again to feel good and so he has to forget what he learned from diet experts like Sonja Bakker from Holland.
Who am I or doctors to say and tell in general? This question is too personal. It depends on the first 10 years of Dennis his/her life and the situation he is in now. Mind and body should be in balance. If the mind says: get food,getfood,getfood, the body wants to satisfy the mind. If the body wants to start working on the reflex and another part of the brain starts blinking: no-you-can't, noyoucant, another amount stresshormons will start floating. Since Dennis is a child of 10 years old he may not be able to handle this and he might get overactive/ADHD too. It's easy to diagnose he will loose the weight than and advise him some sports or so (quantity). But it might also be good to make clear to him, in the presence of his (step)parents that swallowing whatever shouldn't be a way to compensate bad feelings(quality and longterm). Diet experts like mis Bakker think money will change everything. Experts like me think the child knows best what is good for him/her. Eating is something that cannot be taught. Maybe to some extend by the biological mom while pregnant. But as an outsider you will never be totally sure of relatance, so you should lay of. If the child knows how to handle the teasing and the shortage of flexibillity what may not even be there, than it has no problem with it's weight. Only people that ask these kind of questions.
If Dennis is a child that won't grow in weight, or has other growthdisturbances he might be the kind of person that grabs to addictions like drugs, sigarets, pils and other stuff that is good for him, so they tell him. The diët expert makes a hole in his consuming behaviour by giving him medicin/drugs and education/data along with it, and a person weak for saying no and triggering is (re)born. This Dennis may feel good for a while, or using a lessor part of his brain. This kind of good feeling I don't like at all. It is the sexkind, the 5 minuts-joy kind. The teaching people to lack the laws of killing and hurting why-it-is-war-kind. The way of big leaders that start wars.
Ask yourself this question. What weighed I at the age of 10 and did I mind other children being more or less heavy? Most people will answer No. I am sure. Because children respect each other. If they are taught to tease, they will often target a big child, a glasses child, a redhead over here. But this could well be different in other parts of the world. I learned as a Dennis, but it turned out to become a menace.
By the way: this (wrong) coping stragedy can be projected onto many things. When rewinded back the person involved will get a selfmade selfasteam that feels very good. Padding yourself on your chest as a reward feels very good.
