When asked to do an unusual job, or one that I don't normally do, I first calculate material cost and add 20%. Next I figure out approximately how long it will take and how much per hour I want out of it. I add those 2 figures together, then add a moderate profit and there is my final figure. Not foolproof, but usually works .
Materials, labor, profit and overhead should be consider, figure out how much material you need, how long you would take ( add extra time in case of anything unespected happens ), and how much you want to get paid for your time, add profit ( this is extra of your day's pay ), add overhead ( not necesary if you're not running a business, keep in mind: insurrance, licencing, rent, utilities, tools you're using etc... )
it deppends if the gym is big or small square or rectangular
The amount a person requests is up to their needs. Painting a house would factor in the amount of time but also the amount of paint needed and the price of the paint.
As long as the paint isn't a really low quality brand or an extremely intense color, 1 gallon will beplenty. Make sure that if this is new drywall that it has been primed in advance with a PVA primer. If this a very dark or intense color, have a primer tinted to the color of your paint. If it is a dark red use a gray primer instead.
Apply a coat of exterior paint over the interior paint to protect the finish and to discourage mildew growth on the paint film.
You can calculate the amount of paint needed by finding the square footage of the room to be painted. Each manufacturer has a recommendation as to how many square feet a gallon of paint will cover. Make sure to calculate for primer if needed and or a second coat of finish.
Yes, oil based primer is the best choice for you bathroom. This will hold up much better to years of steam and splashes and prevent mold/mildew. You can paint over the oil primer with latex paint if you wish- make sure it is semi-gloss because this will also hold up better against steam and splashes.
Use a good quality primer that is intended for all paints or for oil based paints. You might want to use a tintable primer (Killz for example), and have it tinted to approximate your final paint color. That gives much better chances of painting in one coat.
Charge by the time spent on the project - not the amount of paint.
It's generally much better to use water base primer on drywall.

Yes, much faster, and if you use a good primer first, your 'coverage' is as good.

I charge 30 per hour for that. Obviously costs differ according to local market .
When people prime and paint a room on their own, they can save a lot of money. After all, professional painters charge high fees for their services, and it is generally cheaper for homeowners to do home improvement work themselves anyway. Many people, however, do not go the extra step and increase their savings through the wise purchase and use of paint and primer. This guide offers some helpful hints for saving money on these painting supplies so that homeowners can cut costs even further when they forego hiring a professional and paint a room themselves.Consider Different Sources for Paint and PrimerPaint stores and hardware stores are the places where most people buy their paint. Although great deals on paint and primer are often available at these locations, homeowners should also know that they can get even better prices elsewhere. Many local hazardous waste recycling centers sell leftover or recycled paint at a premium discount, enabling buyers to save even more money on a painting project.Use All the Paint in a CanSome paint is always left on the sides and bottom of a can after the can is emptied into a paint tray. Inexperienced painters may think that this paint is inaccessible and useless, but it can actually be used to paint trim and other areas. Just dip the brush into the can to access and use the leftover paint. This allows painters to get more out of the can, reducing the amount of paint that has to be purchased.Use Primer Only When NecessaryMany homeowners apply primer even when primer is not required. Applying the same type of paint over a wall's existing paint does not demand a primer, although primer may be necessary if the new paint is a lighter color. In any case, using primer only when necessary reduces the homeowners' cost for primer.Measure Walls AccuratelyMeasure accurately the square footage of walls that need to be painted in order to avoid buying too much paint and primer. Most experts agree that one can of paint will cover about 350 square feet of area. Those who measure accurately can divide their square footage by 350 and get a true idea of how much paint they will need.
yes..paint KILZ on first Or paint any oil based primer first if your topcoat is water based. Kilz is a stain kill primer and even though it dries fast, it tends to be hard to sand. An enamel undercoat works much better as a bridge. If you're using an oil-based top coat, you do not need a primer, just make sure that the surface is clean and gloss free.
