A horses weight will vary greatly but to find your horses current weight you'll need a piece of paper a pencil and a seamstresses tape measure. Measure your horses length from point of shoulder to point of buttock and write this number down. Now wrap the tape around the horses heart girth and write that number down. Finally do a simple math equation to find the current weight. Girth x Girth X length divide by 330= current weight. No asses the horse and see if he looks under or overweight and you can go from there.
This wholly depends on how the horse is built. A more narrowly built horse will weigh less than a more bulky wider build horse of the same height. Typically a 14 hand horse will weigh from 800 to 1,000 pounds.
Around 454.5kgs - 5909.1kgs (1,000 - 1,300 pounds)
A horse this size can comfortably carry up to 160 lbs.
place your hand flat
It depends on how big the horse/pony is but, really if it's your horse, you should know!!
The inside hand is the "default" hand, however you should hold your crop in whichever hand it is needed. If your horse is drifting to the outside, for example, switch your crop over to the outside hand.
You put your hand on the horse's rump and slide it across until you are on the other side.
NO! your horse should be up to 1,000 lbs by now especially for a a 15 hand horse. you need to get him checked out by your local vet.
A Large size
make sure the horse knows you are behind them by either keeping your hand on their rump or talking to them.
Well, if your horse is trained, you should be able to just squeeze with your lower leg, and your horse should go. If you are referring to walking a horse in hand, then you should stand by the horses should with the lead rope in your hand. Make sure that the lead is NOT wrapped around your hand, because if your horse spooks, it could drag you with it. Move your hand forward, pulling the lead rope forward as well. When the horse begins to walk, lessen the pressure on the lead so that you are barely pushing it forward any more. Making sure that you are keeping pace with your horse. If the horse is well trained, it may not move if you are too far in front of behind the shoulder. Always be careful that you are not standing in front of the horse as well. If you stand directly in front of the horse and it spooks it could very well run you over.
