IF any still exist, they were struck in the same 90% silver / 10% copper alloy as previous Peace dollars and contain approximately 0.77 troy ounces of precious metal.

Under pressure from the silver industry and gaming lobby, the government agreed to a trial minting of about 300,000 1964-D Peace dollars. However the price of silver spiked before any were released, so to avoid hoarding and speculation the Mint ordered all of them to be melted.

Rumors persist to this day that a few were saved from the furnace but no one has admitted to holding one. Like the famous 1933 double eagle coins they're technically illegal to own privately. If any do show up they would be among the greatest numismatic rarities ever.
