An alto sax varies in prices depending where you are. It also depends on if you want a professional alto sax or a student alto sax. A professional alto sax usually costs about 2,000 to 3,000 dollars. A student alto sax will usually cost about 250 to 1,000 dollars. So make sure you really want your own instrument because it is quite an investment.

I don't know but my friend once tried to get the notes for Dr Who on violin and it cost £60. So I wouldn't bother with sheet music and just try it by thinking of the notes and trying to match them with the sax. That's what I do and it helps you memorise the notes without having to read from the sheet.
