It all depends on weather you would like it done right and weather you want to do it yourself $2000-3000 is cheap for these things with $5000-6000 for a good job, on these cars id take the 5,000 route dont have to go back a second time and itll last longer also if you go the cheap way you can get gear grind or other things like that. If you do it your self prices can vary depending on where you get the tranny from also transmissons are inerchangeable on all vr4s just have to change the flywheel and clutch to do so good luck and i hope this helps
depends if it there is a difference in the types of cars. since the vr4 is awd you can only change those out with vr4s not the sl or base model.
They really didn't have anymore horsepower than the previous years. There were some weight changes between the 1st gen and the 2nd gen 3KGTs. The 1st Gen VR4s reportedly had 300HP and the 2nd gen had 320 HP however this has been long debated on the forums. The engine and tranny is the same between the years except for a couple non performance altering upgrades. The SL models stay the same at around 220 HP I believe. The SOHC version which I do not recall if was still in production in 95 had something like 165 HP (cannot remember correctly). Regardless, for expert details on this matter 3SI.ORG is the 3000GT and Stealth forum board.
