The 2000 Acura 3.2 TL has two CV half shafts as its front axles. Aftermarket CV half shafts priced at wholesale are around 45$ each. Labor to install one half shaft for this vehicle should be 1-1.5 hours maximum. Assuming a labor rate of approximately 100$ the estimated total for one CV with parts and labor would be 150-200$.
the only parts that you can replace on the axle shaft are the cv joints that go into transaxle Cheaper to buy new axles 75 to 100 each side
If you have less than 100,000 miles on it, and are the original owner, it is still covered by warranty.
The average cost to replace CV joints is approximately $300. It is more inexpensive and less time consuming to replace both CV joints.
How much does it cost to replace a cv joint on 4 wheel drive
Yes
Don't bother replacing the joints, replace the axles. The cost isn't much different and your getting new joints and boots, not to mention less time to do it. Check for weak motor mounts on this van, they contibute to axles popping out if they are too weak. Alignment of where the motor sets is critical.
I just received a quote of $700 to replace both CV axles on mine. That's about $225 each for parts and then labor. I just received a quote of $700 to replace both CV axles on mine. That's about $225 each for parts and then labor. I have a certified mechanic who has me buy the parts (saves me a lot of money). He is charging me $200 for labor for the passenger side. I bought the re-manufactured shaft for $63 minus $10 core, so ends up to be $53+tax. So $253 total.
Replace the complete halfshaft assembly, it is much easier than trying to replace the cv joint itself.
