Saturated fat and trans fat have both been linked to diseases like Heart disease and type 2 Diabetes.
Teens (and adults) should limit their saturated fat to about 7-10% of calories in their diet each day. That would means at the most about 20 g of saturated fat should be eaten each day. Instead, eat poly and monounsaturated fats. You can get more of these and less saturated fats by using vegetable oils instead of butter. (and eating less fried foods) You can also get less saturated fats by eating skim or low fat (1%) milk and other dairy products.
Trans fats are harmful and should be eating as minimally as possible. There are no recommendations other than avoiding trans fats.

People worry about saturated fat because it is thought that saturated fats clog arteries. The scientific evidence supporting such a belief is shaky at best. Actually, it is excessive omega-6 intake that children need to be protected from.
