1995 740i, same transmission; I purchased 14 quarts and took the car to a local transmission shop. It took about 12.5 quarts.
If you want to do it yourself, fluid is added thru a recessed center bolt in the transmission oil pan (dort of like the center feature in an Angel Food cake pan. After changing the filter and bolting up the pan with all the perimeter bolts, insert a 1/4" diameter copper tube bent 90 degrees at the top. The bend has to be short and tight, yet you still need a fluid path. This is the tough part. Once your tube is poking into the pan at the topp of the center feature, start pumping fluid into the pan. Don't even worry about overflow until the 12th or 13th quart. Once it starts to overflow, remove the tube and replace the center bolt.
Now you can see why I took it to a loca shop...... LOL
2.1 quarts
Can a 1998 Chevy Malibu LS hold more than 6.9 quarts of transmission fluid/or how many quarts does it take to fill up the transmission after being drained?
If you are just changing the fluid it hold about 5 quarts, but if the transmission has been flushed (which I've been told is BAD) it will hold about 10. Hope it helps.
12-15 quarts
It depends on the transmission, which you did not list.
My 1991 Buick Century won't move or hold transmission fluid
How many quarts of automatic transmission fluid does the 2001 Toyota Avalon automatic transmission hold?

auto trans hold S if dry 9.3 qts (US) DRAIN AND REFILL 8.5 qts(us)
on the shifter push the button on the left side. If that does not work disconnect battery for a few minutes. On my kia when the hold button kept flashing and stayed on I discovered that my transmission fluid was low. Once i put the transmission fluid in the light went off.
Your 1992 Toyota transmission will hold 12 quarts of transmission fluid, when it is empty. You can check the transmission fluid level with the dipstick.
