Plain vinegar. Place vinegar in spray bottle. Spray and blot, spray and blot. Repeat. The vinegar neutralizes the smell. I have also used Nature's Miracle too (which is vinegar based). But pure vinegar is a true neutralizer! Baking soda is another product to sprinkle occasionally to keep the carpet fresh

try baking soda with vinegar for a soak.
Heck no as it is a very carcinogenic mixture
Baking soda will react chemically with vinegar, so cleaning a vinegar spill with baking soda will, if sufficient baking soda is applied, react with all the vinegar and completely eliminate all that vinegar and its smell. The "active ingredient" in vinegar is acetic acid, which is CH3COOH, and its mixed in with water. Baking soda is NaHCO3. The reaction is as follows: CH3COOH + NaHCO3 => NaC2H3O2 + H2CO3
The carpets and seats will need to be cleaned if you don't know exactly where the smell is coming from. Check where it connects under the sink to the drainage or the garburator. It will more than likely be plugged somewhere near that connection. Unplug it, and run 2 cups of vinegar and 1/2 a cup of baking soda through a long hot cycle in the D/W. This should get rid of the sewer odor.
The vent on the roof of your house may be blocked up. Your will need to check that. Try pouring a cup of vinegar into the toilet bowl and then add 1 cup of baking soda. This will fizz up but freshen the pipes.
Often it is caused by someone urinating in the shower. People may think that the smell will wash away but often it does not. A way to cure the smell is to pour 1/4 cup of baking soda down the drain. Then drizzle 1/2 cup of white vinegar down it. This will cause a foaming reaction. Cover the drain and give it some time to work through the pipe. Then pour a pot of boiling water to rinse. Of odor remains repeat until the smell is gone
One of the biggest culprits I have found for sewer gas smell is the floor drain many floor drains are seldom if ever used and if unused long enough the water in the trap will evaporate allowing sewer gas to enter the dwelling. this also applies to any trap which is not used regularly.
