Often it is caused by someone urinating in the shower. People may think that the smell will wash away but often it does not. A way to cure the smell is to pour 1/4 cup of baking soda down the drain. Then drizzle 1/2 cup of white vinegar down it. This will cause a foaming reaction. Cover the drain and give it some time to work through the pipe. Then pour a pot of boiling water to rinse. Of odor remains repeat until the smell is gone
In short yes it will. However if, once you have finished peeing, you rinse the shower and 'wash' all traces of urine down the drain then your shower should be fine. However if trace amounts of urine pool, diluted or not, in areas of the shower it will become 'stale' and give off a nasty odour similar to that of ammonium.
