I would not recommend taking any at such a young age, most of the vitamin D required by the human body is produced in reaction to sun light.

Spending 15 to 20 minutes a day outside in the sun should provide more than enough.

However if you live in a part of the world that does not see the sun for long periods of time (Alaska for several months of the year); than a supplement may be needed.

Typically 1000 IUs, though you should probably check with your doctor first to see if there are any medical conditions which would vary the amount you need.
