In the early 1960's a single portion bag of Wise brand potato chips in New York City was 5 cents. It later was raised to 10 cents. There weren't many other brands at that time and no store brands for potato chips.
The family size bags of Lay's and Dan-Dee brand chips were as tall as the standard paper grocery bag and was 24 ounce bags. These were usually .72-.79 cents a bag, sometimes while on sale for .69 cents. This was in northeast Ohio if that makes a difference. Snyder chips were a popular brand also but I don't remember if they had that size of bag.
