Check the sparkplug wires, vaccum lines, and spark plugs, mine did the same thing, and i did a $1000 complete (home) tune up then it purrs like new.

All according to how extensive work needed, 2 distrubutor caps, 2 rotors, if it need new wires? plugs plus the time to take everything off just to get to the parts, probably a few hundred dollars.
All according to whether a rebuilt or new and if you do it or have someone else do it. If you do it yourself in the $100 to $150 range, some shop doing it probably $200 to $500. You should be glad that you don't have the SC400 because that starter is located under the intake manifold so the whole top of the engine has to be removed, in the $2000 range.
