A 1988 Ford Ranger takes Motorcraft BXL 56A or a Motorcraft BXT 56 , your choice , depending on how much money you wish to spend ( 500 to 550 CCA ) according to motorcraft.com
Enough distilled water to cover the plates. Do not open a sealed battery.
Sure. But not much water, a 9 volt battery has very little power (energy).
I was looking at ford parts . com ( no spaces ) and Ford has the MSRP / list price for 3 Motorcraft batteries in U.S. dollars at : $94.95 , $ 104.95 ( that's the one I have - Motorcraft BXT-65-650 ) and $ 119.44 see a Ford dealer for their price ( * as of April 13 , 2010 )
The reason for the battery to loose water is due to the heat, in which the water will evaporate... that is why when you refill water they say to only use distilled water, as the acid is now much more concentrated. A battery that is being overcharged will also loose the fluid.
Because car batteries have metal plates in them to conduct the energy of the battery and the water helps allowing the electricity to flow in the battery when the vehicle is running. After the water has been in contact with the conduit in which the electricity flows (the conduits are acid filled) the water becomes acidic as well and so caution must be used when filling the battery and when removing or carrying it. Also, as a side note, if there is no water in the battery there is an increase in heat and a deterioration of battery plates. This restricts the battery from charging and destroys the battery plates. In contrast, if there is too much water, it can cause the battery to overflow during operation of the vehicle and start corrosion on metal parts around the battery.
The website ( fordparts.com ) shows a list price / MSRP in U.S. dollars for the Motorcraft BXT-65-650 battery ( which is Fords " top of the line " battery for your Ford Explorer with a 36 month free replacement , total of 100 months pro-rated ) at $ 109.95 as of October 30 , 2011 Of course , taxes and installation would be extra
Battery water being distilled water? Because Distilled water would be much better than tap water because it is free from all the impurities and junk that will get stuck in your cooling system but antifreeze still needs to be added.
Around 35% Sulfuric Acid and 65% Distilled Water.
a cell that produces energy a battery is some thing that powers something Chemical commonly known as battery power, is a use of the chemical reactions release energy directly into electrical energy (discussed below are the contents of the range). As the name suggests, the battery is installed electricity pool, just like the pool, the battery voltage and capacity similar to the pool water level and water storage capacity. Battery voltage level of the battery power may be released outside of how much battery capacity indicates how much electricity storage batteries
