It doesn't really matter how much water you put in it. At least they have some. Like my hedgehog needs a refill everyday. So just make it suitable for your hedgehog. Try to use drinking water that you drink. Well water or anything like that isn't the best to use.

Hedgehogs can survive several days if not weeks without water, especially in the wild. But it also depends on the health and age of the hedgie. Although they can survive for days-weeks, if you have a pet hedgie, give it fresh water, best from a water dish or bowl, once or twice a day, and feed them appropriately as well.
