Children and teenagers under the age of about 16 should not lift excessive weights due to the damage that this can cause your body; Weightlifting promotes unnatural growth during the phase in which your body is naturally experiencing a significant growth spurt. As such, over zealous weightlifting and working out can lead to bone deformations, as well as medical complications in later life.
Really, 12-year-olds aren't expected to lift anything in weights. A 12-year-old body isn't fully developed yet, but here is what each gender should lift: Girl: 40% of body weightBoy: 50% of body weight Remember, every 12-year-old is different, because of build, genetics, etc., and you shouldn't think you are not fit or strong enough if you cannot lift 50 or 40 percent of your body weight. Your body is still growing, and you shouldn't push yourself to lift 40-50 percent of your body weight. Although many people say that anyone should be able to do their own weight in lifting or bench pressing, that figure was made for adults, and not kids. The figure above is around what kids should do, but 12 years old might be too young to even achieve the figure above. The figure above was mainly meant for 14-year-olds, and sometimes even 13-year-olds, but if you are fit enough, it is for the 12-year-old body.
They should be able to bench press their own body weight.
i can lift 200 pouds. but i don't know how much my frieds can lift. i have ifted weights over 200 pounds though.
I would think that it would be healthy for a 12 year old to carry 10 pounds.
Most gyms say that you should be 14 before lifting weights
This is because your muscles are not developed enough as a child.
I can lift 45 to 55 pounds I work out a lot.I think a 11 year old boy should be able to lift 25 to about 30 or 35
The average 18 year old female in good shape should be able to lift at least 30 pounds with no effort. To bench press, it should be anywhere between 20 to 50 pounds.

It all depends on genetics. Based by your weight you may not have much muscle, but if you can lift your weight or more you are in good shape. On avg a 112 person can lift around 70-90 pounds.
