If you're going to replace the motor then why would you be replacing the head gasket? Normally a blown head gasket will not require the engine to be replaced. If the head is cracked or warped it may need replacing but not necessarily the entire engine. Unless you continue driving the car after it got hot and blew the gasket more than likely the only thing that will need replacing is the gaskets itself. The only way to know for sure is to open it up. If only the gasket is defective you will more likely spend around $1000. But it really depends on who performs the repair.
