well my friend, that all depends on where you are
The cheapest hotels on Catalina Island include the Hermosa Hotel and the SeaShore Inn. These two hotels are much cheaper than other hotels on the island.

I don't know much about Catalina island, but from what I hear, it is off the coast of the United States, it's a relatively small island and it is quite rocky. Additionally, there was once a gold rush, but according to my research it didn't really pan out.
Shikoku is an island. I would imagine a lot.

Not even close. Western has a sweeter, bolder, and much fuller taste then Catalina. To say they taste the same would be to say a Bentley and a Saturn are the same.
Catalina is an island. Its full name is Santa Catalina Island. Politically it's part of Los Angeles county in California; physically it's about 20 miles from the mainland. It's a popular resort destination (where do people who already live in a place that's a resort destination for much of the country ... i.e. southern California ... go for their own vacations? Catalina is one option). It's difficult, but not actually impossible, to swim there from the mainland... there's a group of lunatics^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^Henthusiasts that occasionally do so. I've never read the book, but from the cover and the blurb I'm guessing that it might be meant at least partially figuratively, that doing something difficult, dangerous, and potentially fatal would be like "swimming to Catalina".
