They cost what you pay for them.
Reliable, low cost firearms. Seldom exceed 100 USD in value.
If you can locate a copy of the Gun Digest of that time frame,it will have the cost of the then new Stevens/Savage model 73.this model was made from 1964-1969.
100 USD
Stevens Arms was an American firearms manufacturer founded by Joshua Stevens in 1864 and then bought by Savage Arms in 1920 but still retained the Stevens brand on a number of its low cost rifles and shotguns. The most common and notable of these is the Stevens Model 416 .22 caliber bolt action rifle that carries the long rifle round. A large number of these were supplied to the U.S. military as training rifles. Because these were very common and cheap to manufacture, they might not fetch a valuable price in a collector's point of view.
I just bought a Stevens Model 512 Gold wing 12 Ga. at Cabela's for $599.00
The model year would be helpful.
Your Stevens Model 820B in 80% condition would probably fetch $80.00 to $100.00 at the right time. Most of the Stevens 22 calibers and shotguns were considered utility guns and do not hold a great attraction for the serious collector. They are a fine product with a long and proud history. Hang on to your J. Stevens Arms and Tool Co. firearms. They will serve you well and when they need repairs the parts are available widely and at very reasonable cost.
i have a westpinot 948E here in front of me an it needs some parts. it has a 36 in barrel I think I gave $70 for it at a gun shop. I am not sure what parts cost but it misfires alot
$70.00 to $125.00
updated answer: Stevens was owned by Savage Arms, and the Stevens model 87D is the same as the Savage model 6D (Stevens rifles were the lower cost siblings to the similar Savage models, usually with birch rather than walnut stocks, etc). The cast aluminum alloy trigger guard used by both versions of this rifle are still available (in Jan 2012) from Numrich (aka Gun Parts Corp) -- see: www.gunpartscorp.com/catalog/Products.aspx?catid=856 orignal answer: Try e-gunparts.com
MY Brand New Stag Arms M-4 Model #1 Cost me $850.00. I love it!
