You can take it as often or in the dose your Dr prescribed but if your looking for illicit use then if you've never taken it b4 you can take 10-15mg for desired effect every 2-4 hours. just don't exceed 4000mg 4g of accetiminophen (Tylenol) a day and you'll be fine the dose that is lethal is 10 000mg 10g but anything above 4g can be damaging.

It depends on your opiate tolerance level, the reason you're taking it (acute pain or as a breakthrough pain med), but the general dosage interval is 4-6 hours. Typically, if you're more tolerant to opiates, you'll probably feel it start to wear off around the 4 hour mark. Most opiate patients (myself included) who use large amounts of Percocet regularly, typically will take a new dose as the old one is starting to expire. This way there's an overlap between the two - one dose is expiring at the same time the new one is ramping up to full potency in your system, so you don't get any breakthrough pain or withdrawal effects.

It takes a bit of experience to learn when to take them if you're using them regularly. For those who are only using them for acute pain (broken bone, post-surgery, etc.) take the new one toward the end of the last dosage cycle so the dropoff effect of the previous dose doesn't hit as hard. Even after a a couple of days, you'll learn when the dosage is wearing off.
