The expansion valve should function normally as long as it is not contaminated and blocked with particles. Refrigerant and lubricants should be the only materials that are circulating through a normal AC system that is in good operating condition.
When an AC compressor fails it CAN start throwing particles, little pieces of worn compressor.
If an AC compressor has failed in a way that causes particles in the refrigerant, the entire system must be flushed and the expansion valve should be replaced.
But realistically, even though many AC shops will just want to replace everything, you shouldn't need to replace the expansion valve if the refrigerant and oil are still clean.
need to change more often
When you here a rattling noise from the engine at idle.
When I had my 97 Saturn I asked my mechanic that same question. I was told there is no timing belt on this car. The engine uses all gears.

On most vehicles I recommend you change the oil every 5,000 miles if you are using conventional oil and 8,000 if you are using synthetic. However due to a design flaw in your Saturn engine, you need to change your oil every 3,000 miles.
Saturn recommends changing oil filter every 6000 to 12000 miles. Most mechanics recommend changing the oil filter with every oil change.
Yes, Saturn is often easy to see.
its the same for all vehicles for regular oil 3months/3000miles and for synthetic 6months/6000miles
Every 3,000 to 4,000 miles or once every 3 months..depending on your driving conditions.
An incentive spirometer is often used to promote expansion of the alveoi.
Saturn, as are all other planets, is in a constant state of motion around the Sun.
