Aftercare is an on going routine for the life of the piercing, oral health is key to good general health. Removing the jewellery once a week and cleaning the barbell with your toothpaste and tooth brush maintains a fresh breath and a clean piercing. Oral rinse is a good idea to prevent the build up of plaque and bacteria on your jewellery and teeth.
The over use of any kind of mouth wash can actually cause irritation to the piercing. If you are using a mouth wash before getting the piercing done, then only use it in the morning and at night time brushing before bed. There is no reason to use a mouth wash any more than that. If you are not using a mouth wash before the piercing is done, then don't start, so long as you are practicing good oral hygiene by brushing in the morning and at night that should be plenty. Just make sure you are staying on cold stuff to control the swelling through out the day.
ibuprofen, Advil are anti-inflamitories that will help to keep the swelling in check, that in concert with crushed ice, freezies etc. will also help. Dairy products should be avoided due to the residue they leave on the tongue which will support bacterial growth. Use common sense when looking after your tongue piercing and everything should be fine. If in doubt contact your professional body piercer for assistance.
Well we have all heard about the dangers of cigarette smoking, so that being covered, lets answer the question. Smoking any thing, tobacco or what ever will leave a residue on the tongue and jewellery. We recommend that if you need to smoke be sure you have a bottle of water with you. Once your done with your smoke, take some water and swish and swallow. This also applies to eating, once your done eating just have some water and swish and swallow to rinse the mouth of food particles.
Mine did. It might be due to the healing process. When mine itches, I would wash my mouth with the mouthwash or take a drink. it usually worked.
Yeah if you don't take care of it .....and don't use mouthwash ...and brush your teeth ...but it shouldn't stink unless you got natural stinky breath haha
Oral means mouth so basically getting your tongue or your lip or even cheek pierced.
nope. YOU HAVE AN INFECTION...
Basically it cleans out bacteria where your toothbrush cant reach. It focuses on killing jerms on your cheecks, tongue, etc.
You can indeed go to the beach, try and avoid getting sea and/or pool water in your mouth though, as that will not improve healing.
You will have good breath and a healthy tongue. You're supposed to brush your tongue and rinse your mouth with mouthwash when you brush your teeth.
well, it is advisable. Although, i got my tongue pierced 4 days ago, i just rinse with water after i eat or drink, and use non alcohol mouthwas when i wake up, in the middle of the day and before bed. if you have mouthwash with alcohol, put a glass of water half full and mix in the mouthwash. ice chips in the water will help alot. x
i wouldn't clean a tongue piercing with peroxide. when you first get your tongue pierced you're suppose to clean it with antiseptic mouth wash and you are suppose to drink liquids for a whole week when you first get it pierced.
Your tongue will swell anyway and as for getting it to go down quicker there's no real cure, You can use ice water & crushed ice in your mouth. Also one thing my piercer recommended was Ibuprofen that melts in your mouth so you can allow it to actually enter the piercing site. :)
No.
It is only possible if the person operating the tongue has semen in their mouth.
