It depends on the part of Australia in which one is travelling.

Red kangaroos are found throughout the interior of the Australian continent - not the dry desert but in semi-arid desert areas skirting roads and the outlying sheep and cattle stations - and on part of the Western Australian coast.

Anyone travelling through this area is guaranteed a high likelihood of seeing a red kangaroo, either alive or as roadkill.
