Usually you should chang e the oil every three thousand miles. And that's on every car.
5w20 is the recommended weight.

According to the 2001 Ford Taurus Owner Guide : ( 5W-20 engine oil ) is used for both the 3.0 liter Vulcan and Duratec engines

Oil in the radiator or water in the oil which will show up as white gloopy stuff on the oil level stick.
