Answer is, you don't have to change your transmission ATF oil whenever you change your motor oil unless your transmission oil got mixed with water when you drive your car in flooded streets. Otherwise, you don't change your ATF. One simple test would be to pull out the transmission dip stick and check it visually and by smelling it. Visually, if the ATF oil is clean (pinkish color) and clear then it's very good. Smell it. If it smell like candy, then it very good. Better yet, get yourself familiarize with ATF oil. The oil in your tranny should be the same as if just got poured out from the bottle. Now, if your ATF got mixed with water, the ATF oil color will change into milky color or in some cases it's a bit brownish and has burnt smell. If that is the case, you need to change your ATF. The burnt smell indicates that your rebuilding disc is wearing thin. Most car mfg would recommend that you change your ATF oil every 50,000 kilometers while you need to change your engine oil every 5,000 to 6,000 kilometers. Hope this helps.
Add ATF through the transmission dipstick tube. Check the ATF level with engine running and the transmission in park. Check level often as you add fluid with the dipstick until it reaches the "full cold" mark. Type of ATF you should use is written on the dipstick.
