I change the PCV valve in all my General Motors vehicles every 40k. A new valve costs about 3-4 dollars. So do it every tune up or annualy; Your choice. Another thing you can do is remove the valve and give it a shake. If it makes a rattle noise it should be fine, however it wont hurt to replace it with a equal quality OEM one for a few bucks.
