At least twice a day if you have a fenced in yard for him/her to run in if no fence then I would say 4 to 6 times a day. Because they are small they need to go to the bathroom more often.
It may depend on the individual dog more than the breed. I have a chihuahua who often only goes once in 24 hours, fortunately she lets me know when she needs to go. When I first got her, I spent a lot of time trying to get her to go at least twice a day, but it was virtually impossible.
