When you take your kitten to the vets for his booster shots (first ones 8-12 weeks) the vet will give you powder to mix into his food for a few days when you go back for his 2nd lot (3weeks later)he will give you more to put in his food again. Then you worm him every 3 months. :)

You can start to deworm your kitten when it's six weeks old. They should continue to be dewormed every three weeks between the ages of six weeks and four months. After they're four months old, they only need to be wormed every three months or so.

Kittens need to be started on a deworming program if they have parasites. Whether or not they have worms will depend on their mother's health history and their living conditions after they are born. A veterinarian should check a fecal sample by 4 weeks of age initially to check for intestinal parasites and should continue to check fecal samples routinely after that to monitor for parasite infections that could occur due to environmental conditions.

Some veterinarians will start kittens on a routine preventative deworming program as early as 4-6 weeks of age.
