The mother of the puppies will tell them when it is time to stop nursing because it starts to hurt her. From ther you can take some dry puppy food and add some hot water to it to moisten it. Usually you will find it will be several months old before you can feed them straight dry food

∙ 12y agoyou can start weening a pup at four weeks ,allow the kibble to soak in water to turn mush and mix with a little can. after that let the mom feed do this for a week and the following week let her fed them a night at six weeks she should be completely off

∙ 12y agowell it depends when you take the puppy if you take it early its probable that it will still wont mums milk but if you take it after maybe 8 months then it should eat dog food but try and change between milk and food and don't over feed it.

∙ 11y agoAll dogs should eat dry food as its good for their health, but with a puppy you shouldn't really be feeding them completely dry food at all, you should at least be putting watter in it so that it softens enough for them to be able to eat it. once they are old enough of have dry food, keep them on it but make sure its the right kind for that type of dog and for that size/age. If you feed them too much they'll get fat and if you feed them too little they'll become skinny. Plus make sure your walking them properly because that can also be a reason for fatness.
