Emancipated. I had the same issue when I was about your age, in California, years ago. I understand it. Here's the Colorado statute: Quoting Colorado Code 19-1-103. Definitions (45) "Emancipated juvenile", as used in section 19-2-511, means a juvenile over fifteen years of age and under eighteen years of age who has, with the real or apparent assent of the juvenile's parents, demonstrated independence from the juvenile's parents in matters of care, custody, and earnings. The term may include, but shall not be limited to, any such juvenile who has the sole responsibility for the juvenile's own support, who is married, or who is in the military. It isn't easy to do and it isn't, necessarily, the right thing to do. Out of all the people answering these questions, I am someone who would know. I didn't do it legally. It is VERY difficult, regardless of the state you are in, physically, psychically, or emotionally. As you will note above, you need your parents permission. Will they give it to you? Mine wouldn't--and I had graduated high school when I was fourteen. But I left anyway. So did my ex-husband--please note the "ex" in front of the word. It isn't always the best idea. For one more thing, working yourself to death is always better to put off. But I do wish you luck.
