I have the same model, from the research I have done I have found that model is a 1953

some sites say 1952 ,others say 54, and that model# is a 7.5 not an 8hp
according to the label on mine it is 7.5 at 4000rpm
I'm sorry that I was unable to find any database for Elgin serial numbers. They were sold by Sears, and the small ones (up to about 3 HP) were made by West Bend, the larger ones were made by Scott-McCullogh.
A Johnson outboard, model number J88MSLCUS, is a 1987 model, 90 hp outboard.
10R76R is a 1976 model, 9.9 hp Johnson outboard.
Johnson outboard model number J175EXARG, would be a 1994 year model.
A 50hp Johnson outboard, model TELCUD, is a 1987 year model.
An Evinrude outboard, model number E185TXCRS would be a 1984 model, 185 hp.
A 4 hp Johnson outboard, model number J4REIA, is a 1991 year model.
A Johnson outboard, model number CD24D is a 1967 model, 6 hp engine.
The Johnson model CD25R, is a 6hp outboard, produced in 1968.
