I'm sorry that I was unable to find any database for Elgin serial numbers. They were sold by Sears, and the small ones (up to about 3 HP) were made by West Bend, the larger ones were made by Scott-McCullogh.
I have the same model, from the research I have done I have found that model is a 1953
A Johnson outboard, model number J88MSLCUS, is a 1987 model, 90 hp outboard.
Johnson outboard model number J175EXARG, would be a 1994 year model.

A Johnson outboard engine, model number RDE19M, would be a 1957 year model, 35 hp outboard.
some sites say 1952 ,others say 54, and that model# is a 7.5 not an 8hp
