Crescent Firearms, sometime between 1888 & 1929. Crescent Firearms Co. was started in 1888 by George W. Cilley. These were made for and sold by a variety of hardware companies, mail order stores, retailers and distributors. Nearly 100 names are known or thought to have been used on shotguns produced by Crescent. In 1929 N. R. Davis Firearms Co. merged with Crescent to become Davis-Crescent Arms Co.
Plymouth was a trade brand shotgun made by Crescent Fire Arms Co and later by Davis-Warner Arms Co. It was distributed/retailed by H & D Folsome. Shotgun Markings also lists a hammer double barrel by an unknown Belgian maker and indicates the retailer was Spear & Co.
What information would you want? Crescent made single shotguns from 1893 to 1930. If it has a large side hammer and damascus barrels, it would almost certainly be from before 1915. If it has fluid steel barrels and a center hammer (or is hammerless) then sometime after 1903.
I have one in 85 to 95 percent condition. A beautiful little SXS .410. i wouldn't take less than $950.00, just because it's unusual and very sweet.
The American gun company was a trade name under the crescent firearms company. These low cost shotguns were made for many hardware companys across America in the late 19th and early 20th century. They had no records as far as I am aware of for there production of firearms, sorry.
This trade name was sold by H&D Folsom Sporting Goods of New York. From 1893 until 1930 they would have been manufactured by Crescent Firearms of Norwich, CT. Earlier guns would have been imported from Belgium.
