There is no such thing as a Springfield '62. You probably mean a '63. In this case, the number refers to 1863. Therefore the rifled musket would be 145 years old.

The "Springfield" designation means that it was produced at the National Armory in Springfield, Massachusetts.

The '63 was the most common longarm issued to soldiers during the Civil War, although at the time it was not generally differentiated from the '61, because it is almost completely identical.
